This week’s verse is a good one to put on repeat in challenging seasons. Jesus is confronted with a boy who is possessed by a spirit that makes him have convulsions. The disciples were unsuccessful at helping the boy. The boy’s father says to Jesus in Mark 9 verse 22 “But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us” Jesus responds by saying “If you can? Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Then what happens next is exactly what I often need help with.
The boy’s father asks Jesus for help with his unbelief!!!
And guess what happens?
Jesus commanded the spirit leave, and it did!
The last few weeks we have really focused on prayer. That’s exactly why I chose this verse. After Jesus heals the boy and makes the spirit leave, the disciples ask Jesus why they couldn’t make the spirit leave. In Mark 9:29, Jesus replied telling his disciples that this kind of spirit can only come out with PRAYER.
PRAYER is POWERFUL.
This week, I challenge you to set aside time everyday to pray out loud and be bold in asking the Lord for help with your unbelief!! He hears you!
