How often do you take time to be still?
No TV.
No music.
No podcast.
No social media scrolling.
No noise.
NOTHING.
Just you, silence, and God’s voice?
I’m embarrassed to admit that this is actually uncomfortable for me. I find my mind wanders and I often follow a rabbit trail of to-do lists, negative thoughts, and worries.
OR, if I’ve set aside prayer time, I am the one doing the talking. It’s about me, my family, my worries, my agenda, and of course my gratitude.
Me, me, me, me…
What margin have I left in my day to LISTEN? To be STILL? To hear from Him? Psalms 62:5 says: For God alone, I my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him. Wait for Him in silence.
Psalms 46 starts by saying “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
The enemy loves noise in our lives. It keeps us distracted, in our comfort zone, and we aren’t in tune with God’s voice. To be still and know that He is God is what we need when our lives are loud.
This week, I want to challenge you to take time each day to listen to God in silence. Cut the noise and give God your undivided attention. This might seem uncomfortable, or even unproductive at first, but a comfortable spiritual life is a dangerous place to live.
Know you are loved,
