I don’t know about you, but last week’s verse was CHALLENGING! Doing everything without grumbling or arguing will be something I have to consciously practice and work on the rest of my life. (Please tell me I’m not alone!) Throughout the week I looked for ways I could be better at this. James 1:19, “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” It’s impossible to argue and complain when your mouth is closed, and you are listening.
Has your mouth ever gotten you in trouble? 🤦🏼♀️ How many confrontations could I have avoided if I would have just kept my mouth shut and listened?! (Answer: A LOT.)
The most valuable thing my friends have done for me is LISTEN. And the gift of prayer means that God is always listening. This reminds me that to be more like Him I must practice the example shown to me.
This week let’s put a special focus on LISTENING to others. When was the last time you sat down with your children and asked them curious questions and just LISTENED without judgment? When was the last time you called your friend or went on a date with your spouse and set the intention that you would be quick to listen and slow to speak. YIKES. I think most of us could do better at this!
We can’t do this alone, but we can with God’s help. Remember, I am here for you and praying for you. I would love to know how I can pray for you this week. Message me with your prayer requests, and I’ll be sure to add you to my daily prayer journal.
Know you are loved,
