Did you know I was the Director of a Child Development Center for 11 years?
When children would “graduate” from my preschool, they would have about 15 Bible verses memorized. I wish I could take credit for teaching them the verses but I can’t. The incredible teachers I worked with took on that challenge. One thing I can take credit for is picking the Bible verses the children were taught. The verse we are focusing on this week is one I chose for the children to memorize. John 10:27 says, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Please watch my Week 23 YouTube video above, and when you are done… Click HERE and watch this one! This video shows how sheep know their shepherd. Other people try to call the sheep using the exact same words the shepherd would use, only to be ignored. The sheep respond only to their shepherd’s voice.
Why is this? Because the sheep know who looks out for them. They know who guides them to green pastures, protects them, makes sure they have water, and most of all… spends the most TIME with them.
Do you feel like you are not hearing God’s voice? If so, evaluate how much time you are spending with Him! How often are you reading His word? (What do you spend more time doing… Prayer and Bible reading or TV and social media? OUCH.) God is with you, always. You will know His voice and hear His voice the more you treat Him as your Shepherd and spend time with Him.
The Lord is calling new leaders to do His work. He’s calling YOU. The last 7 years I have done a tremendous amount of study on leadership. I’ve learned all great leaders have something in common… They are all great followers.
Follow God first, lead second.
