I have officially hit a CRAZY busy season! I know overwhelm is a choice, so I’m choosing this season to rely 100% on God to carry me through. My earthly father is a source of peace for me. No one can calm me down and help me be reasonable as fast as he can. He’s the person I can tell ANYTHING to and feel no judgment and complete love. I know not everyone is blessed with an understanding earthly father like mine, but we are all blessed with a heavenly Father that provides peace, understanding, and the guidance we are seeking.
The verse this week is Luke 11:2-4. It is one you are probably very familiar with. I’ve decided to memorize the Message version because I already know the NIV by heart.
‘He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’ ”
This teaching on prayer is the response Jesus gives when His disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray. He keeps it simple, but let’s look at the pieces of it. First, honor Him. Then ask Him to help the world and those around us, so that His Kingdom will grow. Ask that your physical needs be provided for. Also, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness. Asking the Lord for forgiveness requires that YOU forgive others as well. Then, ask that He would keep you from following temptation when it arises in your life.
Week 25 is the first of several weeks that we will be focusing on prayer! I look forward to connecting more with my heavenly Father. Feel free to reach out and connect with me if you have a specific prayer request!
