I hope your week 49 is off to a good start! This week’s Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!”
It was really important to me to memorize this verse before starting the New Year. I’m a big fan of new beginnings. I love the yearly ritual of hitting the reset button and setting new goals.
On the topic of health goals, earlier this year I took on the 75 Hard Challenge. 75 Hard consists of five daily tasks: drinking one gallon of water, two 45 minute workouts (one MUST be outside), sticking to a diet of your choice with zero cheat meals or alcohol, reading 10 pages of a personal development book and taking a daily progress picture.
IT WAS HARD. And I failed. Around day 56 I got really sick. If you miss even one task on one day you must start all over from day 1. By day 56 my body was exhausted. It had been given no rest and the amount of water I was drinking had depleted the minerals my body needed. My body was DONE. I did the challenge because I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. What hurt more than failing was knowing I knew my body needed rest and I denied it, and in return I got sick.
I told you that story to say this: don’t lose track of the bigger picture, and keep this week’s verse in mind as you set health goals. To really be healthy is more than just losing weight, adjusting our diet, exercising more and hoping for good physical results. It’s about recalibrating our souls so that we recognize our bodies are a gift from God and treating it as the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit.
Now… think how much easier it will be to move your body, make healthy food choices and put down the candy bar when you have the mindset of 1 Corinthians 6:19-20!
I’m definitely a work of progress in this area, but over the last 7 years I have built some tools and a supportive community to help others reach their health goals. If you want more information on this and the health supplements that I take daily just send me a message. In the meantime, here’s to a strong finish to 2021 and a purpose-filled beginning to 2022!
