I love the holiday season. I REALLY love shopping and gift giving. It brings me so much joy to hear giddy giggles on Christmas Eve and feel the excitement and anticipation my children have for Christmas morning. I love seeing them so joyful and excited to receive a gift they have been wishing for.
I like to imagine that’s how God feels when He sees my grateful heart recognizing all the blessings He has given me. He’s glorified when we delight in Him. Our verse this week can help us make sure that we don’t get so focused on gifts and blessings that we overlook the Giver. Our verse is Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
It’s a MUCH needed reminder for my house this time of year. Because as great as the excitement and anticipation of the season are, it’s not any material gift that will ultimately satisfy us. The greatest gift was Christ. Our hearts belong to Him. As we map out our 2022 plans, let’s keep in mind what gets our time and attention and make sure our heart is focused on heavenly treasures and not earthly ones.
Know you are loved,
